MOBILE APP DESIGN

Advancing the Wellness Industry: Designing a Mobile App for Retreat Connections

Overview

OVERVIEW: RetreatVi is a startup company aiming to launch a mobile app that connects end users to retreat hosts.

CHALLENGE: Today, those who seek to attend retreats of any kind (i.e., wellness, spiritual, grief, yoga, etc.) rely on word of mouth, their own due diligence via google searching, or social media to find out about experiences being hosted. It is a challenge to curate your search and compare retreat opportunities.

SOLUTION: Our vision is that all who are interested in retreats are able to seamlessly and effortlessly research the array of experiences being hosted around the world from a user friendly mobile app. On RetreatVi, users can learn about retreats around the world, share with friends, read first hand accounts of people who have attended, and book their spots.

Our mission is to bring more connection, community, and zen into people’s lives. Most people have no idea how good they are meant to feel and experiences like retreats have the potential to unlock new perspective, ideas, routines, connections and positive ways of living.

Research

During the initial phases of developing RetreatVi, I conducted extensive research to ensure a user-centric approach. I undertook market research to analyze comparable products, identifying key strengths and areas for differentiation. Additionally, I crafted three distinct user personas, representing diverse segments of our target audience. I also mapped out the user journey, envisioning how people will use the app from start to finish. This research gave me a clear roadmap to create a user-friendly experience.

Design

Moving into the design phase of RetreatVi, I began by creating foundational components and refining them through low-fidelity wireframes. These initial designs were presented to the client for feedback and approval, setting the stage for progressing to high-fidelity designs. To ensure consistency and a cohesive visual identity, I developed a comprehensive UI kit that included logos, font choices, color palettes, and brand design standards. This kit served as a guide throughout the process, informing the creation of final designs that reflect RetreatVi's unique brand and enhance user engagement.

Prototype

The final deliverable of this engagement was the delivery of a polished, clickable prototype that exceeded my clients expectations. This project not only allowed me to leverage my expertise in user experience design but also fueled my passion for contributing to the wellness industry.

In Conclusion

I am so grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this transformative journey with the RetreatVi team, and I look forward to witnessing the positive impact this product will make in enhancing lives and promoting overall wellbeing.
