MOBILE APP DESIGN

Revolutionizing Mobile Finance: Crafting the Jupiter Fintech App

Overview

OVERVIEW: Jupiter Credit Card offers dynamic cash back rewards and credit terms based on customers demonstrating healthy financial habits. The healthier your finances, the better rewards you receive with your plan. My design team was hired to present a comprehensive understanding of the product and challenge, intended user(s), and mobile application functionality.

CHALLENGE: Credit Card offerings in the US aren’t typically designed to help people. Incentives are to drive profit for the credit card companies and incentivize borrowers to spend too much. The new generation of borrowers expect something that is on their side, fair, and transparent compared to the status quo. Jupiter aims to solve this by rewarding healthy financial decisions. They needed a prototype to demonstrate proof of concept of their offering to future customers, potential recruits, and investors.

SOLUTION: We designed a high fidelity wireframes and a clickable prototype using Figma software to demonstrate the main areas of the credit card application and how it would work.

ROLE: Lead Product Designer

TIMELINE: March - May 2022

Product Goals

Our team started with a series of interviews with the Jupiter team to align on product goals.

  • Business Goals

    • Teach good financial habits by educating and monitoring users spending habits.

    • Reward users to incentivize them to stick to their financial goals.

    • The app can help users demonstrate creditworthiness to grow their credit / increase credit score

  • User Goals

    • The user should feel like they are in control of their financial decisions.

    • Make sound financial decisions and improve their financial well being.

    • To be assured they have enough money to cover for any life changing or unexpected events.

  • Investor Goals

    • Financial returns on investments

    • Evaluate if the product and idea is validated and solves this problem

Research

During the research phase, our team employed a comprehensive approach to gather insights and define the project's direction. We started with Persona Development & User Journeys to understand our target users deeply and map out their interactions with the product. This was followed by a thorough Competitive Analysis to benchmark industry standards and identify opportunities for differentiation. Additionally, we aligned on User Flows and Requirements, ensuring a clear and cohesive vision for the user experience. Sketches were created to visualize initial concepts and facilitate early feedback and iteration. Together, these efforts laid a solid foundation for a user-centered design process.

Design

In the Visual Design phase, I focused on translating our research insights into tangible design elements. I began by creating a comprehensive UI Kit, establishing a consistent visual language and design components. Next, I developed wireframes to outline the structure and layout of key screens, producing low-fidelity mockups that allowed for early visualization and iteration of the design. This phase was crucial in setting the aesthetic and functional foundation for the product.

Prototyping

In the final phase, I transformed the high-fidelity designs into an interactive prototype, meticulously crafted to showcase the product's full potential to investors.

In handing off this project, I worked closely with the Jupiter team to ensure they were comfortable using and presenting the Figma prototype. I created a recording of a few basics in Figma for them to refer back to over the next several months as they met with potential investors to completely set them up for success.

Client Review

“The prototype that Impekable created received positive feedback from customers, investors, and mentors. Demonstrating high efficiency and flexibility, the team was always available for any adjustments and held meetings when necessary. Above all, their UI and UX were of high quality.”

In Conclusion

The project was completed on time and within budget, exceeding client expectations and providing a compelling, polished presentation ready for stakeholder engagement. I am looking forward to picking back up with this client and continuing to iterate on the designs of such an innovative and socially responsible product.
